Introduction

Prompt Generator ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our Chrome extension.

Information We Collect

Data You Provide

• Prompts: The text you enter into the extension for improvement
• User Account Information: When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and profile information (name, profile picture) through Google OAuth

Automatically Collected Data

The extension and this website send usage analytics to Google Analytics and PostHog. We record which actions happen, never the content they act on:

• Events: Which features you use — improving a prompt, opening the library, saving or deleting a prompt, signing in, submitting feedback
• Measurements about those events: The length of a prompt or search term (never its text), whether an action succeeded, and the identifier of a prompt from our shared library when you insert one
• Identifiers: A random installation identifier, a session identifier, and — if you are signed in — an irreversible cryptographic hash of your email address. We do not send your email address itself to any analytics service
• Website visits: Standard page analytics on this site, through Google Analytics and Vercel Analytics

The text of your prompts is never sent to any analytics service. It goes only to OpenAI, to produce the result you asked for, and to our database when you choose to save it. Both are described below.

How We Use Your Information

Prompt Improvement

Your prompts are sent to OpenAI API (via Supabase Edge Function) to generate improved versions. Improved prompts are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's local storage. Prompts are not stored on our servers unless you explicitly save them to your library.

Library Feature (Optional)

If you choose to save prompts to your library, the prompt text and optional name are stored in Supabase database. This data is associated with your Google email address. You can delete saved prompts at any time.

Data Storage and Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and stored securely. Local data is only accessible to the extension, and cloud data is protected by authentication.

Third-Party Services

• OpenAI: Your prompts are sent to OpenAI API for improvement. Please review OpenAI's Privacy Policy
• Supabase: Used for backend services and optional prompt library storage. Please review Supabase's Privacy Policy
• Google (sign-in): Used for authentication. Please review Google's Privacy Policy
• Google Analytics: Receives the usage events described above, from both the extension and this website. It does not receive your prompts or your email address. Please review Google's Privacy Policy
• PostHog: Receives the same usage events from the extension, stored in the European Union. It does not receive your prompts or your email address. Please review PostHog's Privacy Policy
• Vercel: Hosts this website and provides its page analytics. Please review Vercel's Privacy Policy

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: View your saved prompts in the extension library
• Delete: Delete individual prompts or clear all local data
• Logout: Remove authentication and clear all associated data
• Export: Copy your prompts at any time
